The Dark Side of a Bright Future:
Shady Strategies to Survive Climate Change
1.14 6:00 pm.

The University of Oregon's School of Architecture and the Environment presents a talk by author Sam Bloch on his extraordinary investigation into the history of a diminishing resource: shade. Once a staple of human civilization, shade is in rapid decline--particularly in the public spaces of the US. Bloch examines the key role that shade plays not only in protecting human health and enhancing urban life, but he also looks toward the ways that innovative architects, city leaders, and climate entrepreneurs are reviving it to protect vulnerable people and help save the planet.
